Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Privilege Is A Great Read.

April 18th, 2017 Charlamagne Tha God, one of the host on the popular radio show The Breakfast Club, dropped his highly anticipated book Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes To Those Who Create It. Charlamagne’s initial name for the book was “I Don’t Give a Fuck and Neither Should You,” he says, but he had a few people in his ear to help him change his mind on that.

I purchased the book the day it came out and was determined to read it before Charlamagne’s book signing at the Grove in L.A. and let me just say the book was definitely a page turner. Charlamagne gives us 8 principles that helped him to get where he is today. He talks about his struggles and how he didn’t let growing up in a small country town stop him from reaching his full potential. The book is quite relatable. From the book, you will learn that all of Charlamagne’s  knowledge and success comes from experience and hard work, being as though he only had a night school diploma.

Charlamagne says his favorite principle in the book is Principle 7: Give People the Credit They Deserve for Being Stupid. I would have to say Principle 3: Fuck Your Dreams stuck out more to me. When you read the name at first you think “well that’s harsh”, but that whole chapter teaches you how sometimes you are following somebody else’s dream and if you are doing that “F that Dream” because it’s really not yours. Find yourself. We all have our own purpose in life, why try to live someone else’s purpose?

I appreciated the whole book. I like all 8 principles, it’s not your normal self motivating book if you follow Charlamagne’s career you know he believes in “Ratchetness & Righteousness” and the book is definitely both. If you haven’t gotten a chance to read the book yet, do yourself a favor and check it out.
